Our team will endeavour to respond to your enquiry as soon as possible.

 

ORDERING AND PAYING

Regalia Hire
The hirer who places an order confirms that the wearer is entitled to wear the regalia booked.

 

Regalia will not be shared with anyone who is not entitled to wear that regalia.

 

Once payment is received and confirmed, your order is reserved. All graduation hire stock must be collected during notified periods unless agreed otherwise.

 

Casual Hire and Sales
The hirer who places an order confirms that the wearer is entitled to wear the regalia booked.

 

After confirmation of payment is made and approved, your Casual Hire or Sales order will ship. No items are considered sold until the item has been fully paid for and dispatched.
 

Overseas Hire and Use
Hired robes must not be taken out of the country. You must buy your robes if you wish to take them overseas.

 

Payment Options
ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE accepts payments by Visa and Mastercard through our secure online payment system on the website.

We also accept online bank transfers and A2A (Account to Account).

Customers can pay by EFTPOS or by cash at our office during business hours. Monday to Thursday 9am to 3pm outside holiday time. Note we do not normally work in January.

 

Cancellation

We will provide a full refund for all orders cancelled up to 1 week prior to graduation. To cancel your order, email us info@masseygowns.org.nz
 

Collection
Your order will be available for collection during the 24 hours prior to your ceremony unless your ceremony is on a Monday when there will normally be an uplift opportunity on Saturday.

Returns
You must return the regalia by the deadline identified on the order receipt email or as agreed by ADH. Failure to do so will incur penalty fees.

A casual hire duration is seven days unless an extension is sought for the hire.

Please note you will be invoiced a second hire fee if your robes are not returned by the deadline specified for your hire. For a graduation the deadline is normally midday on the day after the last ceremony.

Non-Returned and Damaged Regalia
If your robes are not returned or returned damaged​

You are liable to pay a replacement fee of
  • $255 per Gown​​ (Bachelor, Masters & Doctoral)
  • $275 per Higher Doctoral Gown (Scarlet)
  • $105 per Trencher
  • $115 per Bonnet
  • $175 per Bachelor Hood
  • $105 per Bachelor Honours Hood with Ribbon
  • $105 per Masters Hood
  • $120 per PhD Stole
  • $120 per Massey Diploma Stole
And you are liable for all debt collection charges should the invoice remain unpaid after 30 days.

SECURITY & PRIVACY
It is necessary for us to obtain information from you to assist with the hire process and in case we need to contact you regarding your hire or purchase. The security of your private information is our top priority. It will only be used in relation to the hire or purchase of academic regalia.

By placing your order with us you agree to your learning institution and us sharing your details to ensure you receive the correct regalia for the correct graduation. Academic Dress Hire will consult the hirer's Institution i.e Massey University or UCOL to ascertain that they have the full correct details.

All payments are processed via a secure payment gateway operated by BNZ. Our Windcave payment security system encodes your credit card and contact details to ensure its safe transfer.

We understand and respect our customers need for privacy. Therefore you can be assured that we will not divulge or sell your name to any third parties other than their Learning Institution, without prior consent and knowledge.

We may also contact you via e-mail to notify you about our upcoming promotions. You will be given the opportunity to decide to join/be removed from the list. If you wish to have your name removed from our e-mail distribution list you may unsubscribe at any time.
 

SHIPPING INFORMATION - OVERVIEW
All Casual Hire & Sale orders are shipped by courier. We aim to send all orders within 3-5 business days of receipt of payment.

You should then allow up to 3 business days for your package to arrive at your New Zealand address.

Please note that during peak seasonal dates, delivery time frames are longer (particularly the November/December Christmas period). In general, we are closed in January.

 

Shipping Costs
We operate a flat-rate shipping & handling fee that is shown when you place an order. Rural deliveries incur extra charges and will be applied.

Customers please note: Additional postage charges may apply if your order needs to be split into separate parcels due to size and weight.


Shipping-New Regalia
Once payment is received and confirmed, your order will be picked, packed and labelled and the courier will collect your parcel for delivery.

Deliveries
Couriers take 2-3 days in New Zealand to deliver to major metropolitan areas. However service time may vary between 1 and 5 days.

Please ensure you give us an address where someone will be available to sign for and receive your parcel during week days.

We do not deliver items at weekends.

 

STOCK CONTROL
We make every effort to ensure that all products ordered are in stock. Some purchases may require us to get regalia made. This can take up to four weeks.

RETURNS POLICY ON PURCHASES

Please choose your purchase carefully and we will provide a full refund, less postage, should the size be wrong or the product damaged. Exchanges must be returned and exchanged within 10 working days of the original purchase date.

An administration fee may be applied on returned purchases if you have changed your mind about owning regalia.

If the goods are faulty in anyway contact us immediately.

COLOUR ON THE INTERNET
Every effort has been made to ensure the product colours shown on the website are as close as possible to the actual colours, however, different computer screens may show slight variations. If you are unsure about the colour of any garment, please enquire before purchasing.

DISPUTE
Where a dispute arises out of the hire and/or return of regalia, you agree to advise Academic Dress Hire of this dispute within seven days of it occurring. If the parties are unable to resolve the dispute, you agree that Academic Dress Hire may refer this dispute to the Disputes Tribunal for resolution.

LOSS OR DAMAGE TO HIRERS CLOTHING
Whilst ADH will use its best efforts to ensure that the regalia it hires will not cause loss or damage to the hirer’s clothing, ADH is not liable for any loss or damage to the hirer’s clothing of any kind, whether arising directly or indirectly out of the hire of the regalia.

 

FORCE MAJEURE
Should any case beyond the control of ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE, but not limited to, any order of government or other authority, strike, lockout, labour dispute, delays in transit, difficulty in procuring components, embargo, accident, emergency, act of God, or other contingency, interfere with the delivery by ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE, or with the performance by ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE of any of its obligation under these Terms, ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE shall be entitled at its sole discretion to suspend its performance of, any such obligation or to cancel and shall not be liable to the Buyer in any respect. 

 

ADDITIONAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
By accepting the regalia, you agree to the Terms and Conditions of ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE and acknowledge that you have inspected the regalia and are satisfied with the condition that the regalia is in.

ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE agrees to lease the property to the HIRER on the following terms and conditions:

  • The HIRER acknowledges that in any case of default of these terms and conditions ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE may require the services of a debt collection agency at the Hirer's cost.
  • The property that the HIRER takes possession of is owned by ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE.
  • The HIRER has examined the property and acknowledges that the property is received in good condition and is safe and suitable for its intended use.
  • ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE will not be liable in any way in respect of any claim made against the HIRER for any damage caused by the Hirer's use of the property.
  • ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE will not be liable to the HIRER or any third party for any damage or loss resulting from any defect, failure, or breakdown in the property from any cause. Such cause presumes an absence of any negligence on the part of ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE.
  • The HIRER agrees to return the property to ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE in the same condition as received, fair wear and tear accepted, on the return date advised at the time of hire. Unless the invoice/contract is amended to state otherwise, the HIRER will return the property to ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE at its premises noted in the invoice/contract.
  • ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE reserves the right to demand immediate return of the property on any breach of these terms and conditions.
  • ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE reserves the right to charge additional hire time if the property is not returned by the specified date.
  • The HIRER agrees not to use the property in violation of any law, statue or regulation. The laws of New Zealand apply.
  • The HIRER agrees to pay ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE the fee, and a bond if that applies, by the due date set out in the invoice/contract.
  • The HIRER agrees that he or she will retain possession and control of the property throughout the period of hire.
  • The HIRER agrees that he or she is liable to ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE for any loss of property, or part of the property, and may be required to meet the replacement cost of the property.
  • ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE reserves the right to retain a cancellation fee on any cancelled bookings.
  • We are unable to refund any donations made with the hire.

We reserve the right to alter and/or add to our hire terms and conditions as required. Any amendments to our terms and conditions will be posted on our website and will be effective immediately upon the posting of those terms and conditions on our website. The hirer is responsible for ensuring that they are aware of the latest terms and conditions and that hire of any items is an acknowledgement by the hirer of our terms and conditions as amended.

The terms and conditions on this website are the terms on which ACADEMIC DRESS HIRE offers the hire of regalia. In hiring any items of regalia the hirer accepts these terms and conditions. If the hirer does not accept these terms and conditions they must not proceed with the hire.
